I'm really curious about the idea of using a bow to play a cigar box. The thing is, I've never played with a bow before, and I don't know anything about bows (except the didley ones, of course). I've seen cigar box fiddles and bowed dulcimers, so I assume cigar boxes can indeed be played with bows.
Has anyone had any success with this idea? If so, can somebody suggest a type of bow that works best? Are the cheap bows on ebay any good, or should I buy a more expensive one?
Thanks,
Caleb

Just regular guitar strings....works great just don`t forget to apply rosin to the bow strings
Yep that's what I got the cheapest one I could find on ebay, figured probably just use it once and a while. Later down the road I got myself a cheapy bass bow for bowing my homemade stand up bass.
How well do the bows work on homemade instrument? That is, minus the limitations of the user's talent, of course.
