Soon building a phone handset mic (waiting for delivery), but that got me to wondering, can a lo-fi be made out of old small speakers? I have several, ranging from 3" to 1"x2" ovals.

Brief hiatus while carpet gets installed, but I had an add0on idea for phone handset lo-fi mics....
If you have the whole base for a dial phone, how about gutting it, dial too, rig a faceplate over the dial hole (like some used to be blanked out), and mounting a 7545 preamp in it as a stand-alone preamp,...but then rigging the cradle so that when the handset mic is placed on the cradle, it disconnects the battery... I know, the little switched jacks do that, but sort of a double safety, for when you forget to unplug or just for the coolness factor...
