  • Basically the sticky out bit you attach the string to goes below the thing you twist. That way the force of string tension pulls that bit down which levers it against the side of the hole and pushes the brass gear against the worm gear. If you put them in the other way up they can wear out faster.

    Plenty people having plenty good fun with them up the other way though:-) 

  • ROUND side DOWN

     easy  way to  remember  .

     

    the    wheel  ( geer part ) of the  tuner  shoud  be  down,  .  ie ; closer to  the  nut  .

    if the   knobs    lay   left  or  right  after that  ,   will  tell  you  which is  which .    .
