hi,
i’ve built 4 CBGs now, all with pickups of some design, but I tend to play, and I use the term loosely, acoustically. However I plugged my latest project into the amp built with the CB Gitty kit, and when I pluck a string I get a loud “quack” before the string rings out. I have earthed all of my strings and bridge. Can anyone diagnose my problem and, hopefully, supply a solution.

Hi, did you find out what was causing the noise, would be interested to know what you found out?

Hi, no there’s a good 7-8mm clearance.
Maybe some more info would help us, is it a pre-wired pickup, what pickup was it, can we see some pics of the wiring at least?
It’s a pickup purchased from a reputable source here in the UK, as was the pre-wired pots and jack. However they were purchased separately and all I had to do was solder the pickup leads to the volume pot.
from the description of the noise im guessing its a piezo pickup ? You may need to add a cap across the output jack. Glen did a video on this a while ago...
Actually it’s a humbucker with tone & volume pots.
