I thought I would pass this along to my brethren (and sisteren?) in the CB community. I think the possible applications to Cigar Box guitar building will be obvious.

Image Transfer to Wood

Don't forget to check out the comments section on that page for some Q&A and a couple of nice photo examples.

I hope someone finds this helpful. I have not done it yet myself.

  • Thanks for the info, gonna try some of these.

  • Found this idea on Pinterest. It works! Print in reverse on wax paper (taped to regular sheet of paper), align and press in with a gift card or similar. Let it fully dry before finishing. I do a rubbed oil finish and it holds up nicely.306548304?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

    • I found it easier to use a label sheet.  Peel all the labels off and feed it thru as normal.  You can even wipe it off and reuse it again.

To make the transfer stick to the box I lightly sand the box before transferring the image.  If you make a mistake and say smear the image...  no worries.  Just sand it off and repeat.  If the image transfers and I'm happy with it, then spray a light coat of lacquer over it to protect it.
