Building what I thought was going to be a uke.... but I think the neck is toooo long. I like the look of the thing and was wondering what I could make of it..... fret board is 14 inches, box is 9 1/4 neck is 1 3/4 at nut and 2" at bottom.... Am I looking at a small 4 string guitar?

  • looks like a ukulele to me, see this https://www.cbgitty.com/books-media/fretting-scale-length-template-...

  • 19" scale is perfect for a baritone uke, you could go 18" for a tenor...or you could do a Mandola or octave Mandola.
    • You guys are the Greatest!

  • look like you can get a nice 19"scale uke out of it...  i have a EZ method for ukulele copyright 1924 and it would call this a guitar-uke also known as tenor guitar or uke-i-tar...  tuned to DGBE

    • I have a baritone duke , it's scale length is 19.5"

      This isn't a mistake you made....it's a Happy accident..

  • In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity.
  • You are well within scale length for a tenor, or baritone uke, or even a very short scale guitar, me, i'd string it up unfretted, with a floating bridge, and just see what brings the best out of the box, then fret it to suit

    • So what I would have is a short (not as many frets) tenor uke.... If I can do this it would be great.... and tnx for you suggestion on the string er up (hanging is too good for it)..... this particular build is my first and BIG failure..... I would like to see it used with a purpose.... tnx Again
