Why do I seldom see hip flasks being used for resonators?  My second build was a travel CBG made from a hip flask and collapsible walking cane.  The unexpected high quality tone it created got me to experimenting and researching this site (I read through all 507 pages of forum topics and all of the group posts as well as scouring through thousands of images).  There are very few discussions involving flasks.  A simple tap test tells me they have a crisp tone that is brighter than a dog bowl. I picked up a large 64 ounce hip flask and when I placed the two flasks concave sides facing each other the resulting tone and amplification of sound was wonderful. That is the heart of my third build, a 3 string CBG with this large flask as an internal resonator.  I recently found a huge 128 ounce hip flask for my next project.

  • I’ve made a few canjoes with them?

  • nice build. got any photos of how the flasks are mounted?

    • I should have, but didn't.  They are simply bolted concave sides facing each other.
