Hi all,
I am new here but have built quite a few amps. I am wondering if anyone here has good experience with higher wattage mini amps (5-10 amps). I have a couple that I have built with good results based on an lm386 preamp design with a 12 volt power amp following. Any experience with different speaker ohm ratings and combinations would be of interest. I am currently using a relativly simple tone control on all my higher wattage amps, if anyone has designs for more elaborate tone controls I would be interested.
My last build runs off of a 9vlt and a 12vlt pack of "AA" bats (6 ohm speakers in series providing a 12ohm load) and competes pretty well with a fender frontman 15g if that provides any sort of baseline for what I am working on.

The SD-MAH3 harness is just what I need. I'm building my first CBG and I want a very portable amp to go with it. 5 watts is probably better than 2.5. I got an 8 inch guitar speaker and a Danelectro echo thingy to add some depth.
Problem is I can't find any contact info for Guitar Fuel or the GAS guy who runs the place. Just an email addy. That's not fast enough for me. I want to get this stuff rounded up pronto and build it.
I know I'm not any help for the original poster, but I know nothing about circuit design. Sorry.
Hi Dqave,
Thanks for the info but I am not really looking for plug and play setups. I have looked at these and have considered purchasing one just to look at the circuitry but I am really looking for a custom circuit that I can modify etc. Those look to me like they most likely use a tea chip or something along that line. Do you happen to have the part number off of the IC on that board, I would be curious to know what they are using. The tea chips are pretty common in small amps for computer speakers etc so I am going a bit on assumption with that. I have built a few using the tea chips off of powered computer speakers with decent results but I would like a little more control over tone as they tend to come out a bit bassy and I have to compensate with tone controls and cabinet design to bring up the mid range.

Just got this one in the mail today and haven't put it together. I've bought other products from them in the past and have been very pleased.
