Hi guys, I am now building my first cigar box guitar and I would like to have your opinion about how I build it. Very basic CBG and I don't have lots of tools.
I am now ready to glue my neck (1x2 with a 1/4x2 laminated fretboard) onto a 1x2 through support strut. My question is : If I leave a small gap (around 1/8) between the box and the neck, will it be OK to play with or should I put the neck closer to the box?
Here's a picture with a gap between :
Here's a picture with no gap between :
Here's the joint (not glue yet) with the neck/fretboard and the through box support strut :
Here's the view inside the box (support strut already glued and srew onto the box) :
Here's a picture of the headstock (not finish yet). I hard an hard-time trying to trim a 1/4'', 5'' long into the wood (you can see how it's not flat)... I glued a piece of 1/4x2 under it to have the tuning pegs on a good level, onto the headstock.... :
The wood that I used for the neck and the support strut is Birch and the fretboard is Oak. Let me know what do you think of that and what I should do different before gluing the neck and what I should do different for my neck build. It will be very appreciated! Thank you

first, whichever you like the looks of better
second, if you do want to open/close easily after the assembly with a tight gap, try wax paper as a spacer between the box and the butt end of the neck, it will give you a really tiny gap and the glue won't stick to it.
