I'm going to Wisconsin and will be flying.  Has anyone boarded a plain with their CBG?  Any trouble as a carry on?

Thanks,

I think as long as it meets the size regulations, no problem. My pal took one back to Austria with him, and that one even had a "Suspect Device" sticker with a picture of a bomb on the back.

Put it in a small padded bag and carry it with you.  If the airline won't let you put it in an overhead bin, then you can gate check it.  Gate checked items are carried by hand an placed in the first class hold (if the jet is equipped as such).  Normally, these items get extra care and are not subject to automated bag/case transfer systems.

Hey Thanks for the quick reply's.  I appreciate the link, Mr. Pick.   I tried to do a search on the forums but had no luck.  Mr. Device, I appreciate the comment as well.  I sure don't want to make the ATF mad..  LOL!

I figured back off the string tension and put a leather bullet pouch I have made for my 50 caliber, over my tuners. Strap it over my shoulder and tote it in my lap.  So I think it is a GO, I'm gonna do it!!

I generally tote it in a Lawn Chair bag, but just for grins and future battle scars to be treasured, I'll leave it out in the open for discussions by folks that say, "What the dickens is that" Ha, ha..Had that a lot in Austin. Sure was fun..

Thanks again! "The CB Nation" This is such a coooool place to be . Tim.

Yes, I have carried two bothe domestically in the States, and internationally. One in a case, the other uncased. No trouble at all, except for the bemused looks. Just had to be careful putting it in the overhead bin.

Funny, some guy in a Boston T Station knew what was in the case without even seeing it.   :)

Yeah, and he dressed just like me...;-) how ya doin', Eric? Just nodding off to bed here...

i used to work for an air line company on the ramp . i loaded and unloaded bags from the bin (cargo) . DO NOT LET YOUR GIT GO IN THE BIN . these guys move fast and the bags get tossed quickly . something weighing 50 or more pounds can land on it .

No bigger than it is, I Am going to just carry it on.  l'm sure those people that load things look at it as a job and need it on the plain fast to keep with the schedule.

I have flown with them many times. Some carriers can be real assholes about guitars.
They will tell you that you should have checked it in baggage. DO NOT DO THIS.. Always, always always say you did not know. Say that last time they were fine with it. Often one of the cabin crew will take it off you, this is fine they'll take good care of it, but you'll probably be last off the plane. Small price to pay. Every time I've had one in baggage it's been damaged in one way or other.

On the upside, the airport is the single easiest place to sell one to a stranger (for decent dollars) in my experience.. Just get it out and start playing and they'll come (if you can play) ppl at airports 1.have money and 2.are already often in a 'souvenir' frame of mind.

Good luck

AGAIN FOR EMPHASIS.. always act ignorant, you have walked onto the plane under the assumption that it would be totally cool. Do not express contempt for their rules, just ignorance and surprise...

Just to let everyone know walked through with no trouble! I'm just picking & grinning! Thanks for all the input!
Keeping in tune.
