Another Guitar Story.
The Pacific. D18 circa 2014.
As with many of the guitars I build this one is to commemorate something special in the owner’s life.
This guitars name The Pacific, it is not only a name of a gold mine in my district, as are all my guitars, but it has a link [loosely] to the Pacific Ocean. Hence the nautical themed inlays around the guitar.
At the moment the Australian news is getting focused on the upcoming Sydney – Hobart ocean yacht race, a relief from COVID-19 19 coverage.
I thought this build was a fitting inclusion to this series of Guitar Story’s [Episode 2] as the guy that ordered this guitar competed in the round the world Clipper race. He started in the UK and finished in Australia and then did the Sydney to Hobart, in 2014. The guitar was delivered to him on his return.
The guitar is a dreadnaught style with mahogany back and sides, spruce top, ebony fingerboard and bridge and Maple bindings. The inlays are mother of pearl and ebony.
Thanks for looking.
