After hurricane cleanup and house repairs (actually still ongoing) I've managed to start another build. Finally located a box worthy of my Bob Harrison pups.

Anyhow, looking to do a stressed look but the tuners will be out of place.

I'm using the standard gold sealed ones from Gitty (it what I have right now).

Short of grinding them on the pavement, is there a good way to give them a stressed look?

  • SH,

Various ways. You probably gotta get some of the "gold" plating off, either through chemical or mechanical means. You could put them in a plastic bag or metal bowl with some sand, nails, rocks, screws, etc., and tumble them around. Then you can dip them in, yes, urine, whether animal or human, and let them dry. The ammoniac acids in the urine will corrode the finish. You can do the same thing with a 1:1 solution of ammonia and water. Or you can go to HD, Lowe's, or an arts and crafts store, and get one of those antiquing kits for metal.

Or you can try the patina formulas here:

    Good Luck!
