Saw a post about gaps between box and neck but it addressed the esthetics of a gap at end of fret board and the through neck entering the box. I am wondering if an actual gap between the neck either entering and or exiting the box is a disaster. I have seen some makers refer to leaving the gap and consider it as a sound hole. Thoughts?

  • its bad.

    why?

cos if your neck can move, you don't have stability in your tuning.

Of course you might learn to exploit that as a novelty, I had a 'torch' strat like that, neck was a noodle
