Hi,
I was wondering if you were building a fretless CBG to use with slide, do you still want to build up the neck by gluing on a fingerboard just with no fret wire added? Or do you not add at all?
Thx,
Mike

cheers mike . i have a few crazy builds where it just couldnt be flush . etc .. like the telephone body i used etc .. and they all play fine as sliders .

Yep. Pick nailed it. All his reasons are good.
with a slider .. the neck does not "need" to be flush with the box or higher .
but .. adding a fretboard and having it at least flush does add some benefits .
it looks better ,
it adds strength to the neck .
adds a better string break angle at nut .
and having it at least flush , will usually allow the option of some fingering on the higher notes without bottoming out hitting the neck step etc .
you also get to use cool stuff like yardsticks , wood trim , leather belts , chalk board etc .. without worry. etc etc .
