"Soulcatcher and his Doofa Diddley Band " Quilts and Covers"
Mark was kind enough to drop a copy of this off for me earlier today and I said I would write my opinion down for all to see ( being either brave or daft Mark agreed ! )
So....
The covers are all good solid stuff, John Lee Hookers "Burning Hell" stood out for me as did the White Stripes "Hardest Button to Button" both tracks worthy of any radio stations airtime. But it was the original tracks I was more interested in ( having written a few dittys in my time ) and it has to be said that I was suitably impressed. The Dylanesque "Subbourbon Blues" just flows brilliantly as does "Raging All The Way". Then I got to "Hard Rain Blues" You can easily see this being used for a film soundtrack. Mark vocals are effortless and perfectly match the haunting melody. I would love to hear this one professionally produced ( it deserves it ) Brilliant stuff !
Ok so it's home produced and the audio quality varies from track to track, but who cares. There's some great stuff on here and I for one will be buying the record company backed one when it comes out."
