I finished the neck on my first CBG this weekend, decided to try my hand at Nitrocellulose Lacquer.  Much easier to work with than I thought.  Has a few runs along the way but knocked them down with 600 grit before then next set of coats.  Did about 15 coats, with 10 being over the watersilde decal on the headstock.  Rubbed it out by hand and it's as smooth as glass.

  • Badda bing badda boom, nitrocellulose lacquer is fantastic. What brand did you use? I use Deft brand clear gloss wood finish. I get it at Lowes. Get the can and aerosol. Layer on about 6-10 thick coats with a bristle brush and slowly rotate while drying to a thick gel ( each coat. Abt 6 hrs between coats). After that, level with 400-600 grit paper. Few more coats the same as the first. Level again. Sand with 1000 sandpaper and then spray on 'polish' coats (2-3) with the aerosol. Glass sheen will appear. I also might polish with Mothers magnesium and aluminum polish.

Other than that , your application above was terrific!!!
