First Amp

Ok i put the guitar build on hold to start construction of a cradle for my first grandchild that will be here in April. So in the little bit of spare time while the glue up dries i set down to try and build an amp.

The Mrs. and I went to an auction a week ago where I got my hands on some awesome boxes, in the mix was an "Acid Cigars" box that had amp written all over it. So after a little reading and a couple burnt fingers later it was complete.

I used the "Ruby Amp" schematics for my build since that was what was suggested here.

If any one has used the "Little Gem Amp" layout i am having a bit of trouble getting it to work.

So enough rambling here it is....P.S. if someone can tell me how to post the pics directly with out the link i would appreciate it.

  • Jeff,

Further to my last, a quick, cursory use of the Search function here on CBN revealed photos of Little Gem amp builds by  CBN members Kenyon Whaley, Tyson Doolittle, and Rich Gallagher over the last couple years. Try contacting them directly for details.

  • Jeff,

Somewhere on the "It Goes To 11" CBN amp Group, there is a discussion of the Little Gem as well. As far as loading pics, there is a series of buttons just below the Reply to This arrow, that are labeled Link, Image, Media, and Paste as Plain Text. Click on the Image button, and an Add IMage window will pop up. You will have 2 tabs: "From my computer," and "From a URL. The "From my computer" tab will be automatically highlighted; then there is a space that says File, inwhcih youcan type the filename, and a Browse button to the right of that, that will allow you to browse for the pic file on your computer. Select the file, and after it loads the filename, you will see formatting buttons below that that allow you to Left , Center, Right, Full format the image on the page, add some pixels for padding either side of it (I generally use 10), and get an idea of how large in pixels the image is. You then click OK, and viola! Your image will appear inline in your post like so below:

This is me in Bali last spring, having dinner on the beach near the airport, after having got a henna tattoo of a barong on my left bicep earlier that day. My daughter took the picture. And yes, I had already had several "fruit" drinks.305784186?profile=original
