What is the depth of the headstock for cbgitty economy tuners on the headstock? 5/8ths was what I seemed to remember but I forgot duh... glued an additional piece of wood on the bottom of the headstock and somehow confused myself. Thank you.

  • So to runaway's initial question about the headstock being too thick for the tuner's that showed up....one idea is to take a 1"  forstner bit and make a shallow depression on the string side of the headstock for the tuner, should give and neat look and you might not need string trees with the break angle.

  • Probably important to mention that tuners can be different lengths too. I use a lot of different ones on my ukes and uke ones are shorter than guitar ones but they do vary a bit, with one set of uke tuners I just bought being the dual duty slotted/head through type with a middle hole for slotted head and an end hole for a solid head, which made it need a guitar sized 3/4 or 5/8 head rather than a uke size 1/2 inch or so.

  • Why bother remembering all that fancy book learning? Just grab your tuner, lay it on the side and mark what you need with a pencil. I can't remember the last time I used an actual measurement.

    • I do the same, I wait till I have the tuner in hand and cut to fit.

  • don't ask me,i'm into my 4th hr trying to fit 4 tuners to a Gibson type headstock that i made too thin in both directions, cut this, bend that, shim those, would've been quicker to make a new neck
