Please excuse my lack of knowledge. I just finished my second build. This one is fretted. I received the 3 string light acoustic set from C.B Gitty. It is the GDG low/medium/high set. I'm tuning the low sting to G2 and the medium string to D3. Do I tune the high string to G3 or G4. At G3 it seems loose but at G4 it sounds to high to my untrained ears. Keep in mind I'm a complete novice. Thanks/Rick

  • Thanks for the replies. The scale length is s 25 inches. I'll tune it to G3. It feels a bit loose but it sounds ok. I think I'll try a medium string set and see how that feels.
  • Tune it to G3, then play it awhile. See if it stays in tune. It may feel loose because it is a light string set. Lights are usually good for bending notes, and can feel like absolute rubber bands even when tuned to pitch. If it doesn't hold, try switching string gauges for that particular string, per Wayfinder's suggestion. Also, what is your scale length? You may find that a different string gauge is necessary.
