I have suffered from a bad back, off and on, for a long time.....So I changed things up in my workshop, I put cut offs of 4x4 pressure treated pine under the legs of my workbench to raise the height. Then decided that fretting the fret board, sanding the edges....was still making me bent over more than I wanted. So I build an I-Beam  to raise it up even more, man what a difference. I can see it better and I don't have to bend over at all, it is about the height of my bend arms and since I just clamp it to the bench I can remove it and store it right under the bench where I am standing.

  • Not much worse than a low bench for your back, i build mine around elbow high, suits me fine, and easy to sit at when soldering etc.

  • That's a great idea. I'm a tall guy so when I built my bench, I built it way higher than the norm.

  • Work smarter not harder.  Nice going.
