CAO Flattop 770 CBG

Is anyone familiar with the CAO Flattop 770 box? Would it be a good option for a guitar? The top is very thick, so I don't think you would get any resonance. I'm thinking about a magnetic pickup for slide playing, so I don't know if box resonance is that important. Let me know if you think this box would work and what style pickup would you recommend for slide playing? I haven't built anything yet, so I might start with an easier box before I try this box.

  • Any box will do, if it’s a thick box, then yes a magnetic pickup is the way to go? Anything thicker than 1/4”won’t give too much  acoustic value? Another option is to thin the box from the non- printed side which can be quite labor intensive, depending on your tools? Most boxes are thinner on the bottom than they are on the top, so those boxes are generally good to use as the soundboard? Camacho boxes are also thick, about 1/2” thick in some places, so don’t feel so bad?
