I built this wash tub bass and like it so much I just ordered a Nady kick drum mic for the tub to mixer/amp. The real challenge is that I want to hear what I am doing better (louder) because the other band instruments tend to block out the audio I hear. So far I am thinking my best bet is to try a piezo pickup placed on the tub resonator somewhere. Then plug the piezo into my mixer via a a 1/4" splitter (for power) and then plug in a minature mic to the second 1/4" side of the splitter. The speaker would be placed up on the wash tub bass "stick near my left ear. Thus they would both be powered by splitter cable extension to the amp or mixer pre amp.

This way I can get a bit louder sound which in the case of the wash tub bass means maintaining or increasing the correct amount of tension so I am not flat or sharp.

Any ideas on that one? Also, a friend of mine suggested I solder some sort of battery arrangement to the piezo so I am not tied (on the monitor side of this project) to any mixer or amp power. That sounds cool.

Thank you for any feedback you may have!
