Hi over on the What's On Your Workbench thread ILL Green posted a neat idea as a quick solution for using your router to route a rod channel in a neck.

The one I've been using for many years was updated some time ago so I thought I would show my more permanent take on the same idea.

I am lucky enough, or been doing this long enough to quire a number of router bases, and many are dedicated to a particular task. Of the two shown here, one is for routeing  rod slots in necks.

Of course this idea can be carried over to larger routers and larger tables. I have also - back in the day - used the same method for mounting jigsaws, circular saw, and a hand planer.

Pictures should tell the story - if not just ask.

  • Good stuff mate! I'm gonna build me one of them - I seem to have a bit of trouble getting my nut slots - now now, keep it clean.... - straight & even & I recon this will do the job nicely! I actually just bought a small routers on ebay yesterday for $30 delivered, & was wondering how I would make a jig for it - now I know!
