I there is a break angle notched at the top of the neck and the bottom of the neck sits flat in the box ...and the lid sits flat on all 4 corners how does the angle happen ? I'm trying to understand where the angle happens if all of the above is flat except the notching being cut at a slant ?? Thank you

Or maybe you're talking about the headstock cutout? In that case, a 4 1/2"-5" long by 1/4" deep cutout should provide enough break angle, so if your using standard tuners, the holes should be low enough to provide downward pull?
I think you might be confusing break angle with back angle? If so then notch the back end of the top of the neck 1/16"-1/8" deeper than the front end of the notch that goes under the box. But you have to raise the support block under the back of the neck to compensate the deeper notch? That makes the neck angle downward, it needs a higher bridge, but allows a lower action across the frets? Del Puckett as well as Southern Fire guitars has informative videos on their YouTube channels regarding "back angle" if you want a better understanding? Good luck 👍🏽
