I have a love hate relationship with my circular saw. It's the first one I bought. Used it for years. But the thing is flimsy. It has a  base with rounded ends. These rounded sides make it impossible to use a straight edge.  I'm lucky to get this thing with in 3/16 of an inch. And forget about a straight line. The other tool I had to replace. The rubber base on my 1/3 sheet sander had not only worn thin. It's fallen off. That replacement part is no longer available. Both these old tools are Black and Decker. I've been slowly replacing all my tools with better. Replaced them both with Makita. I've used a Makita circular saw with a magnesium base before. Loved it. Very sturdy and easily followed a straight edge for long rips. And best of al it didn't vibrate in my hand like a hornets nest. Cutting straight without a guid was easy.

Looking forward to playing with my new toys!!!!

  • Happy new tool day. Use a tool instead of being a tool. ;)

  • You can't really go wrong with Makita tools. I have lots of them that see a lot of use and they stand up really well. Some of them are 20 years old and just keep on ticking.
