Bolt for a nut?

I need to get your opinion on what materials you use for your nut. I’m coming from the school that uses a bolt. I’m now opening my mind up that there may be possible benefits to using a bone nut or some other material. I’m interested in hearing your pros and cons of what to use for the nut. If you don’t use a bolt, what are you using instead? I just watched a thing the other day by Dell Puckett that suggested that if you use a bolt for a nut it makes a slight difference in the calculation Of the scale Length because you have to take into consideration that the string is not hitting the bolt at the front end of the slot that you have cut for your nuts space. Anyway, I’m seeing there’s a bunch of things to consider and I am thinking I might want to start switching over to a different material for the nut. Does anybody use plexiglass? Interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks

  • I have used plexiglass, beware, it can crack & chip :(  Personally, I like to find out by my own experimentation, so I use the “only one way to find out” train of thought for answering questions on my mind?
