I’ve built a fretless CBG using a flat humbucker pickup, which I connect to a CB Gitty amp. However whenever I play it, as soon as I put the slide onto a string, the result is a “ping” like sound. This may well be due to my playing inexperience, but no matter how gentle I am with the slide, the effect is the same. You can imagine what it’s like when I move up/down the fretboard. Can anyone offer any solutions?

is the slide metal? are the strings earthed? it could be a static discharge to the string causing it to ping???
a video from your ph of the sound and what you are doing might help.
If the sound is muted, then you may need downward pressure on the strings? What are you tuned to, is the string tension overly tight?
Hi, with slide playing laying a finger across the strings , behind the bar, as you contact the strings my help. If not it it may be a pickup or wiring set up issue. Is the pickup too close the the string?
