What's the scale length? I used regular guitar strings on a 28" baritone dulcitar(strat body with a dulcimer neck and 3x3 tuners) build and they barely worked. Had the tuners been 6 inline, I don't think it would have worked. You may have to get baritone scale guitar strings from a big time online string supplier or local guitar shop.
Thanks for the reply. I work on a 27'' scale lenght. I was thinking on using the somewhat thicker flat wound strings.
The baritone strings are bigger/heavier gauge strings and come in different sizes(light to heavy). Flat wounds are great for not having that finger sliding on the string sound. Don't know how well they work with a slide though, but I want to find out.
One thing to consider, larger and longer strings equal more stress on the guitar unless tuned real low, so make sure everything is strong construction wise.
