I repair phones and have several (more) iphone batteries..... my thought is to wire them into a board on say an amp or a cigar box boom box and add a usb port that would be powered through the iphone battery and of course be rechargeable..... I KNOW this would not power the amp it would just be a separate add on.... thoughts?

  • are these 3.7V LiPo batteries? if so you can buy premade boost converters and also charge circuits on ebay from china for a couple of bucks.

I have bought some 3W amp boards that run off 5V. so i went out and bought a cheap USB battery bank to power it. it has a 18650 LiPo battery and a combined charge boost board. powering this amp board from the USB output can be a problem depending on the board used. a dedicated board should be ok but the battery bank board i have wont power if the data lines are not set to a certain voltage that i cant figure out...lol

so i got another cheap chinese one and it doesnt care whats hooked to it.. it powers the amp fine. the amp board was 5 for $5 on ebay the battery bank cost me $10 and i have just recieved in the mail today a preamp board which was about $1.30.

so yes you can use the iphone batteries if you can get a charge board for each bat and then a buck/boost converter to give the output voltage you need.

  • The ARTEC amp boards will operate at anywhere from 12v down to 5v, you could power the card off the phone battery....
