I have old Washing dolly posser which is quite ornate ( see photo) that I was proposing to use as a resonator cone, its design will lend itself to a nice build. My concern is that Its made of aluminium, will a soft metal such as this still have good resonator qualities like s/steel and similar hard steels,

Advice would be welcome.

  • Aluminium will be OK. We use dog bowls, paint can lids, flattened tin goods cans, biscuit tins, etc etc etc.. What's more important is the shape/size/thickness of the metal and the weight/shape/density of the saddle and bridge.

I hold it up by the edge and flick it with my finger to hear the noise. If it has a slight ring to it, winner!
