I have old Washing dolly posser which is quite ornate ( see photo) that I was proposing to use as a resonator cone, its design will lend itself to a nice build. My concern is that Its made of aluminium, will a soft metal such as this still have good resonator qualities like s/steel and similar hard steels,
Advice would be welcome.

Aluminium will be OK. We use dog bowls, paint can lids, flattened tin goods cans, biscuit tins, etc etc etc.. What's more important is the shape/size/thickness of the metal and the weight/shape/density of the saddle and bridge.
I hold it up by the edge and flick it with my finger to hear the noise. If it has a slight ring to it, winner!
