Build #2 finished.

It ain't perfect, flaws too numerous, but on the other hand it gives it character and certainly indicates it's hand built. Learned some stuff too.

Gonna try and knock out a '2x4' two string bass from a 60's plan. Got the body rough shaped today.

The baritone (#3) is glued up and the shape being figured out, so a have to ask....

The 'Rock' vid is my dream. I'm going with your info, 29.5 scale, 36 frets wood body. I have a bunch of pickups, and just got 2 p-90's today. I have them, single coils, zebra humbuckers, and a dual rail humbucker, a couple single coils are pre-wired vol and tone. Which do you pick?

  • If you want big crunch, I suggest a distortion pedal with vol.,gain, tone controls & a tube amp? If not , just go for a Big Muff Pi,  plenty of gain on tap(too much) Gilmour uses them with his laps?

    • It's a little outside my price range, I'm getting ok (untrained ear) sound and am playung around with the Danelectro and Psycho Box. The compressor is getting crunchy too...

      • try compressor at the beginning of the effects chain. will bring everything up and drive the distortions harder.

  • Hi, very tidy work and nice design, well done.

  • Ba ba bad to the bone! Nice job! Post a video, wanna hear it!

    • Couple of days. Gotta remount the phono jack. Sounds good, but what do I know? My amp isn't the greatest.

I ran it thru these and diddled around, got some interesting sounds. Still looking for Ginormous Crunch, but I think I might pick that up in build #3....a Baritone, 29.5" scale and OAL 40".

Click on the pic a couple times, the Psycho Box is cut off here.
