A day at the office

Well,

I'm tired, hungry, my back hurts- so I guess I had a great day!

I worked all the weekend on my first CBG!!! YAY!!!

I'v finished most of the hard work.

All I got left is to drill holes for the bridge and holes in the box.

And put a piezo pickup.

 

I haven't disided yet if I whant to paint the box or just varnish.

 

I bought fret wire & a hammer but my saw is too wide...

does enyone have a link to a cheap saw (shipping to Israel)

 

by the way is it a problem to install frets on maple wood? it very hard wood.

 

anyway  I guess I'll make it fretless although I play a regular guitar.

    The x-acto company makes several saws for the hobbyist with fine edged blades and small teeth. They even make a nice little aluminum miter box Just type "x-acto saw" into your favorite search engine.

    If image 1338 it what your neck thru looks like going thru the box, be VERY careful when you string it up. That's a thin piece. It might fold up on you when you tension the strings to tune it.

    Actually it is better to put frets in hard wood than soft.

    If you have access to a vise you can squeeze the saw blade to make it's cut more thin. If not then very careful tapping will work but go slow and gentle. If you lay a piece of flat steel on the teeth that will help while you tap.
