Looking for metal or wood. Any suggestions welcome

Check your local thrift stores and estate sales for interesting decorative plates and cooking pans/utensils and such that can be adapted for this purpose.
Another possible idea I've considered are center cap hubcaps. These are usually around 7 inches and look very cool. They aren't terribly expensive usually. The problem is that they may not have holes.
