Hi all,
I did my first build last week and I am very satisfied with the result so far... pics will follow soon.
But I have one problem. I did a 640mm build and the strings are going from the front side of the guitar at the neck to the backside (through a small tunnel) where the tuners are.
Now I use 0.13 guitar steel strings and I used a 5th A string for a G-tuning, a 4th D string for my D and a 3rd G string for G... but the G strings always cracks (I already broke 3 strings)... now I use a 2nd B string for the G tuning but the tension is not very satisfying (esp. for sliding).
Can you help me. Does anyone have an idea what I did wrong??
Thanks for your help...
(Pics will follow asap)

check the hole in the tuning head for burs. Alot of the cheaper tuners....and sometimes expensive ones....can have a bur or remnant of the chrome plating that will slice a string under tension. There may be an extreme angle going on near the tuners, but that would likely affect all 3 strings.
Take a length of the broken string and run it through the hole like a file...working around the edges of the hole.
Thanks, that is what I also thought but it seems to crack exactly at the tuner machine head. I have the feeling that there is too much tension on the string... probably because of the tunnel?
See if you can tell exactly where on the string that it is failing. I suspect you might have an abrasive spot on the nut or bridge that is wearing on the string in that particular place.
