"That LYS was made in about 1983 before the factory caught fire. It's a nice Guitar. X braced like a un-scalloped brace Martin. Large sized scale. Built like a tank. I want to add a pick up and get it playing. Need to do the inlay. "

How did you learn about Cigar Box Nation?: Honey Dripper

How many instruments have you built so far?: Half dozen.

What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here (at least one sentence long), your membership may be rejected as a spam/bot fake account).: I just enjoy Blues roots music. I've always been into wood working.I work as a Mill Right so close tolerances are something I'm used to doing.It's fun to build something that might be passed down generation to generation. I've also built regular electric Guitar Kits.I have some books too. So I know what the tolerances should be. I do play a few times a week. Once I retire I hope to get more playing time. I'd like to eventually find some folks to play with..

At 5:11am on September 17, 2009, Paul Doug said…: Charles, thanks for the comment on my Ukulele. It seems to tune well (keep in mind I know nothing about music/playing). I tune it to one of those little clip on tuners. It is braced inside with 1/2" plywood at each end and 3/8" sticks on the sides, top and bottom. The neck is epoxied on with two wood screws going into it from the inside. I have to tune it often because the strings are still stretching. It is tenor scale with tenor strings.
