Hello again. Well for D tuning I use E B and e strings and detune to D A d. They are still tight doing it that way but other folks may do it differently - personally I like one deep bass string and then 2 to play lead effects. Can't say I have used G tuning other than on a much shorter neck where I wanted a ukulele sound

Hi there, what a lot of questions. OK - first glad you like it - I have re-set everything since that video and it is even sweeter now. The action is very low all the way up. I cut grooves into the nut to get the height and spacing right. The neck is just maple with no fretboard - oiled and sanded several times (finish with 240 sandpaper) so it is super smooth. I have a walnut one I made teh same way and they seem to work well. The pickup is screwed down almost flush with the body and the neck is slightly higher that the face of the body to give you clearance. Where I can I also try to set the neck at a very, very slight angle backwards(!) so the action is the same all the way down the neck but you can fit a high bridge - if that makes sense. Of course if you use a piezo pickup you don't have that issue. Good luck with yours. I noticed you used ADA tuning - I use EBe or DAd (like a mountain dulcimer) for what it's worth but you need to get the scale length right or you will bust your strings - I use 25 1/2 inches so it will take standard guitar strings to standard tuning. Look forward to seing your second one. All the best, Brian

Experiment to see what you like better. Metal are more comfortable but tend to slip off, while plastic fits tighter and stays put. Considering they are relatively inexpensive, buy a few sets to compare. www.elderly.com has a large selection. Enjoy.

When you are moving from fingering position to position, lift your fingers and glide lightly on the strings. When you are actually trying to slide from note to note (with your finger) press down like holding a note, and then slide to the next note. If I correctly understand what you are asking, I don't think it is being caused by the strings. Enjoy.

Well actually - I haven't done any "for real" busking. But it's nice to know I've got that safety net if everything else goes to hell! he-he.

I've modified the rig a few times. The best addition was mounting eyebolts into the heels of an old pair of shoes, so I could clip the trigger wires to them.

Here's the only pic I've currently got up . . . .

If the picks are too tight...use a wooden match stick to hold the pick open...dip it into boiling water for just 5 seconds...plunge it into cold water. The plastic will reset to the new size. Picks come in various sizes and vary from brand to brand. www.elderly.com sells many different styles. Basically, you need to purchase a few before you find what works best. I like golden gate thumb picks. Happy New Year! Enjoy
