metal amp

so i made this portable mini amp , the chassis is metal so i call it the metal amp . it runs off batteries or an ac adapter . it has built in metal distortion , flanger , and uni-vibe clone (robin trower , jimi hendrix , david gilmour) . the univibe effect is really cool , i've had phase shifters and such but this particular circuit sounds excellent . finally finished it tonight but i didn't test it with a guitar cause it was really late when we wrapped it up , but my wife took some pictures : here is the hole for the volume pot i used a red LED for the distortion instead of the stock blue , good thing we had about 10 of em laying around . the flanger chassis is yellow so i used an amber LED for her . i finally got around to cutting in the master volume pot . i tried at least six pots , ohm-ing them out , and couldnt find this 50k ones i rescued from the infiniti dumpster . i located it today thank goodness , cause my other 50k pot was stereo , with an on/off switch (huge) , and it had a bad case of the crackles . i was using the evergreen scented candle to strip the insulation off of the wires . the battery compartment to feed the amp has C-cells , and JB-wlded velcro to tie it in . cheese switch , its a remote for boost and univibe , the chassis jack for the remote switch flanger / distortion input didn't like being grounded . i fixed the univibe remote input with a diode , but the flanger and distortion remote jack wouldn't jive . so after 4 hours of monkeying around , i drilled out the jack-hole out big time , mounted the jack to a piece of non conductive plastic and epoxied that to the chassis . metal amp , super duper hassle . i am always going on and on about recycling and garbage picking but . this was one of many washers i had to drill out to fit , notice the ol syringe , like i said , super f-ing hassle . but honestly , i don't think you can buy that inner diameter washer unless you buy a jack , and thats something i rarely do . every piece on this build was reworked in some form or another , trust me . SFH . behind the speaker is the amp board . i couldnt describe to you how tight this build was . a lotta shit ! wheres my hammer ? this was a really tough build , so many problems , everything had to be modified , i am pretty quick a trouble shooting , but there were many face-palms . it took forever , but preliminary tests sound excellent , now i cant wait to crank it up , at a respectable hour (we have neighbors) . the chassis gives it this cool tone , i want to try it with some better guitars , i was using a "clunker" for the tests and it still sounded fantastic , i bet it'll really shine with my strat and ibanez . next up is nuilding instruments , but my back is shot , i need a month off after this shit seriously . took some more pics tonight . SHIT ! the 3 nine volts for the effects mount on the lid , which pops off with 6 nuts , so you dont have to pull it apart to change the batteries . the sides are on the top panel and the front and back panel are on the bottom , they slide together . really challenging cause everything has to connect , but you cant have a lot of slack , don't want cables vibrating and buzzing . some stuff had to be moved around , so there are 4 holes in the back that need to be patched .i cant use screws , so i may saw the shafts off and JB weld em to the hole . any ideas ? also when i fabricated the battery holder out of a second hand wire stripper box , the holes i had drilled lined up perfectly with the screws for the carry handle , pure coincidence . a real lifesaver too , there was no room to go N S E or W with this thing . i just cut 8 more holes and used 4 long screws with wing nuts to secure the battery compartment . i guess after all the stuff NOT aligning properly your bound to hit the jack-pot once . crazy , i couldn't stop laughing , my wife thought i had lost it , again . the univibe had a board mount set and forget pot that changes the intensity of the effect . its a rare 100 ohm pot so i just drilled it out , now you can tweak it with a screw driver . i ported it by shimming the top up a lil . it had too much internal sound pressure with no port , didn't feel like making ugly holes in the front panel . i think it looks kinda cool like that any way . just please don't spill beer on it ! the four large flatheads are for the battery compartment . remote footswitches dist /flange and vibe/boost . this was prolly the biggest hassle , they worked untill we mounted the jacks in the box . then they didnt like to be grounded .
