I was surprised that mine turned out to be audible considering the box was encased in metal tape and coated with carnuba wax. I think it sounds pretty good for an acoustic, a bit subdued, but with decent tone. It took forever to eliminate the rattles, especially with the warped brass drawer handle sitting on top of a watch gear. Now it plays without rattles but mostly hangs on the wall.
I have a couple of videos where you can hear it on my page. I recorded through an ADK mic into my computer and tweaked the sound using Sound Forge but it gives you an idea. (Excuse the playing, still a beginner with the slide)
It was my primary concern when building my entry. So I made sure what I added had great resonance. Old Lowe copper resonator cone. Now if I had only added a few more sprockets and fiddly bits. . . .
Anything added to the box does. Sometimes good sometimes bad. The "radiators" on my "Vudu Steam" tend to resonate giving a growl to the sound or in some cases, depending on where the amp is located they can be a great source of feedback.
I am just completely blown away. FANTASTIC work by all 4 builders. I have no idea how you could select a best one from these. Hi-5 to each builder and these incredible works of art. I'm not worthy!

Question: does all the hardware on the box affect the sound much? Do those add-ons rattle or buzz?

And all this time I just thought the term was psychologically disturbed.
