  • Hello my name is Keith an I'm ..... Oh sorry thought it was group time... Lol I too suffer happily from this wallet debilitating sickness. Now please be quiet while I scour craigslist for shop tools.
  • We ALL have the sickness here. That's what cigar box nation is: group therapy.
    May I never recover!
  • Well I do believe that I have finally done it...

    • Looks like a great project. The proportions are nice, neck dimentions good. One consideration, regardless of neck material, a truss rod will be a serious bonus. In the short term, the neck will be fine. In the long term, not. Taking a chance, after all that work, that any string tension will make the neck settle into a proper alignment is a risky bet. Having a truss will enable you to adjust the string action and counteract the pulling forces of the strings against the neck.

In that respect, having a truss would also enable you to add one more string, which would utilize the middle pole on your pickup. And it gives a better playability.

Any ways, just another way to look at it, and look forward to your journey's results.

  • The 4 1/4" wide body looks better than the 5" wide body....

  • The wider body would help with weight issues with the longer neck. You could try both sizes with cardboard. See what feels best for playing.

Which reminds me... i ned to build more.

  • 306408228?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024I'm thinking it might look a little better with a wider body....

  • That's how it goes.   Nice bass plans.   Over time, you will lose less sleep thinking about builds and you may go into brief remissions where you don't build.   But there will be flare-ups.  It's a life long condition.

  • I have the same affliction. I'll just let it run its course. I'm trying to spread my germs, too. Judging by this site, we have an epidemic!
  • I'm with Pick...enablers are we...twisted, demented, stricken with madness...but fully lucid and aware of our shared plight. There is no cure...but that's not a bad thing. In the big picture, I find serenity in chatting & sharing with this group of awesome folks who make life much more interesting.

Enjoy the ride...cover the floor with wood shavings, keep your fingers away from sharp objects (like that tomahawk), and have fun. And most important...make those strings sing.
