This is a Copper Resonator Cigar Box Guitar, with a 25 ½" scale. The box was a Punch Chateaul, with the paper cover removed. The box has been reinforced all the way around on the inside, and it was stained Walnut. The neck is from MGB Guitars, it is maple with a rosewood fretboard. The neck was pre-made, so all I had to do is shape the head to the design that I wanted and then reseal it. The Copper Resonator was hand spun by Folk Artisan, Charles Atchison. The Humbucker Pickup is custom made by 12-Bar Blues Pickups (by Marshall Hammett), that has been lightly coated with copper paint. The box corners where handmade with copper sheeting. The bridge is made from maple, inserted into a hand made walnut biscuit. The “F-holes” were hand cut and screen mess was painted copper and glued in. And it was finished off with copper colored tuners/machine heads, volume & tone knobs painted copper, a copper colored trail string holder (National hinge) and copper strap buttons and jack nut. The nut is hand made from a bone type material.

"Stunning Build", love the copper look!, thanks for posting your methods of Aging Copper :-)
very desirable.,.,.,raise the price quick.,.,.,!!
Thanks John. The pickup actually matched better but the resonator kept aging. They say the paint will age too because it has copper in it. I guess I'll have to wait and see on that, or go back and add some brown and black to the pickup. The original color of the pickup was sort of, pot metal aged, so I lightly painted over it.
That is just truly a drop my jaw, drool and stare build. Beautiful F holes, screen, Love the aged copper, controls, tail. Nice biscuit. The pickup is not quite there for looks (for me) but the near color match of the controls helps.
Action looks good. That would be a keeper for me.
Thank you all for the comments. I need to mention that when you are aging your copper, put the pieces in a pan of boiling water first to heat and clean the copper. While that is happening, bring the vinegar and peroxide to a boil in the micro wave. Then drain the water off, and put the pieces in a container and pour the vinegar and peroxide over the copper. Let it sit at least until the bubbling stops. How the copper reacts depends on the copper piece. The resonator started to age nicely, but the corner pieces turned more of an orange color (but they are getting better with age). I tried to age some brass screws by putting them in with the copper, but for the most part this solution just strips the brass coating off. I did have two screws and washers that actually became copper coated (they must have been real brass).
I love the copper aging. Thanks for your formula.
mighty fine!
I aged the copper Resonator by emerging it in equal portions of vinegar and peroxide (with a dash of salt) until it stops bubbling. After that you just rinse it off and it will continue to age. This is been setting in my basement for a month waiting on parts and it got a lot more age look to it.
Very nice indeed!
About the best i’ve Seen anywhere! A real Beauty.
