I sort of liked his music, but not the man.He WAS an amazing talent I have to give him that.
Dooshe Baggery?
I've resisted the temptation to weigh in on this up til now, but . . .

On one side of the Dooshe Baggery:
a)The moonwalk was pretty damn cool.
b) Lots of folks thought he was a heluva performer
c) Him and John Landis saved MTV with the Thriller video. (the redeeming value of THAT is questionable - Have you watched the vomit on that channel lately? )

On the other side of the Dooshe Baggery:
(well, everybody knows the despicable stuff on the other side . . . he's gotta answer for all that himself now.)

Creative Artist on the level of Elvis or the Beatles?

. . . Only to a generation desperate for that in a bleak landscape.
(Can the average person even hum more than one or two of his songs?)

Genius?

c'mon.

I feel a little sorry for the pathetic life of a screwed up billionaire that must have hated himself, but
as far as I'm concerned, the media can take all their misplaced worship and shift it over to Billy Mays and it would make about the same amount of sense.
Lets cut the crap. This is the internet, if you post that michael jackson or britney spears or the back street boys or whoever is a god among men in a discussion group, then anyone in the universe is the entitled to reply with their opinion.

Now if you don't like their opinion then you have two choices: you can be a little cry baby about it or you can be an adult and realize that people are entitled to have an opinion that's different then yours. If you can't handle that reality then you're never going to enjoy a conversation online or outside in the real world and I feel sorry for you.
Charlie,
You can't be serious.
You put up a discussion about Michael Jackson and really expect it to be an undefiled shrine to his legacy as an entertainer?
I could add my furthered opinion on this subject but I would just be fueling a useless debate that has already gone on for too long about something too far gone.

I thought toasterburn had put the nail in this "discussion coffin" but people kept on opening their mouths. So I'll quote him and hopefully end this shit.

Toasterburn:
I think this topic is getting taken a little too seriously personally, this isn't a Micahel Jackson love group. Who cares if people think if he's a saint or a creep, can't we all just get along and talk about cbgs?
I've stayed out of this up to now, but I'll throw in my two cents worth.

(1) Everything I've seen about him and the trials resulted in the interviewee trying to make a $ out of it. Trash sells. Good news does not. I still am not convinced he did anything evil.

(2) Every interview I've seen of him impresses me that he has never grown up in the literal sense. I suspect his mental development was arrested by his fathers abusive treatment and manipulation of Michael to make a $ and use him for his father's gain (sound familiar?).

I don't know what his mental state was, and nor do any of you. As my preacher said last Sunday 'I don't know what he said to Jesus (if you have no religious affiliation ignore this) and nor does anyone else.' I hope his soul was saved. If not he is probably roasting in Hell.

As far as his musical ability, he was innovative and certainly had an effect on the music industry. Time alone will tell how much. I don't own a single MJ album, cd, tape, etc. Just my opinion.

I'm stealing that.....
