I found a clip. Actually I thought it wasn't half bad. I'm sure the stellar backing band had a lot to do with it. I'm not any kind of House fan.
I downloaded the album.  Quite amateurish.
I don't really like the stuff he does, but he'd be the first to admit that he's an amateur. A keen amateur, like quite a few folks here. The difference is, their are plenty of record companies that want to cash-in on his fame. He joins a long list: Tele Savalas, Leonard Nimoy, Bruce Willis, David Soul..

Not bad for a self confessed amateur, though amazed that his album is no.2...!!  - many professional musicians would give their eye teeth to get in any top 50...he does look a bit uncomfortable with that guitar, though inside every Englishman is a Bluesman trying to get out, especially among our acting fraternity! (-;

what is your point, Matt? There are thousands of mediocre musicians, comedians, actors. Why to pick on a man whose interest in music is at least genuine (he did it long before yall 'merkins saw the House,MD for the first time) and not entirely "money driven"? 'cause he earns money? If you have a problem with the capitalism - visit Cuba ;-)

And Shane calling things "amateurish"... Hello? What's wrong about that? 90% of everything you hear is amateurish. The amateurs eventually learn, study, play with educated musicians... Or is the 1st grade music school considered "professional education"? Well, if you only listen to Bach and Albinoni -- sorry!

Get a life, guys ;-)

Rafal, No need to call me out dude. It called an OPINION. I guess the point is the ONLY reason he's able to that with his music is because of his acting career. NOT music career.

And he went on national TV with what was an amateurish ( thanks Shane) performance at best.

No, I don't expect to be everyone to be world class musicians. In fact some of my favorite musicians  are locals who have to work for a living and play whenever and where ever they can. AND they are much more talented  than Hugh Laurie.

The truth is, if he was a regular smoe on the the street, he would never had gotten a second look much less a 2nd album.

As usual .... In My Humble Opinion

And while I'm  at it, I'll throw more fuel on the fire. Did anybody catch Jeff Bridges on the Today Show a couple of weeks ago? He was absolutely appalling!

( go ahead - flame a away, I got my flame proof undies on)

I'll bet he wouldn't think too much of my acting, and he beats the chit out of Chatner.
