Hi,I just tried my first rod-piezo, mounted under the saddle of the bridge.  I was rather underwhelmed. The sound was just fine, a bit more mellow than my usual disc type piezo, but the volume was so…Continue

Hey John I picked up a bunch of that type on eBay a while back. They seem to work fine for me. I ran a jumper wire between where the red and brown wire go. Dont think it makes much diffrence, but the ones I have look exactly like the one you show.

experimenting with piezo pickups and harmonica. Interesting effects especially if the piezo is set so it can slide along the body of the harmonica.

I usually just bury the piezo directly under the lid or bridge with hot glue.  I put on a thick cushion, push the piezo into it, and cover with more hot glue.  Seems to do fine, but I don't have anything to compare it to.

hi, i'm john b as you can see and have just joined the group. i've built 3 guitars so far all using piezos.1---- 1 3/8"    2-2 x 1 1/4    3--- 2" ( got from an old phone) the first 2 the piezos were a craft foam sandwich the third craft foam and copper tape. they  have all bee trouble free i.e. no feedback problems ,not to harsh sounding, # 3 sounds really nice, good low tone,,but the bridge is low and played un amplified is quite quiet.

Anyway, here's a piezo pulled from a phone, a bit unusuall,(to me )  what do you think and comments please , i want to use this but hav'nt tried it yet.... it's 1 3/8 " Dia

Hi all. I agree the naked Piezo is harsh. I taped mine between two pieces of wood simply wrapped in insulating tape. It does take the edge off.

But I am having Pot conflict. I have been using a 10k Log Pot amd I getting this wrong?

On the question on feedback from Penny. I have used aluminum foil before but now use the self sticking furnace tape. It's a heavy foil in a roll and I belive you can get it in different widths.

I want to put a volume control on my piezo pick up but I can't remember what resistance the pot should be, and I can't seem to find anything listed here. Can anyone pass on the info? Thanks

Dan

Excuse my bad picture in my last post.

I tried to make it smaller.

I used piezo on my first cookie tin banjo.

Sound good, Cork makes piezo sound better. I clued piezo on cork and cork on neck.
