As an old guy just started to learn to play my cbg

, actually infused into making a cbg by listening to sea sick Steve's albums bought for me for Christmas

I would really like to start to play some of his easier stuff,.I thought it would be great for some kind sole to put some step by step teaching video together .that would be fantastick as I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE GAINED INTEREST IN OUR KIND OF MUSIC BY LISTENING TO HIM MAL

Greetings,

Never too old to learn.

There are a couple of good tutorials on YouTube:

Good Luck!

Keep on rockin' the coconut.

I'm happy to report that I'll be seeing Seasick Steve playing live at a music festival in August.

Seeing him on Jools Holland's show is what led to me discovering the world of CBGs. Finally got to see him live at Cambridge Folk Festival last year - a storming set plus a Q&A in the club tent.

He uses a lot of different tunings (changing guitar quite often between numbers). His 3-String Trace Wonder is tuned G-G-B, which is definitely worth trying out on a three string CBG.

Those YouTube tutorials by that DT8230 guy are very good.

Seasick Steve comes to Pori Jazz festival 2011.Maybe i see him there.

I saw Seasick Steve on Jools Holland's show with his three string guitar, they say he is the last of the great Bluesmen but there still seems to be a few up-and-coming contenders around here!

Seasick Steve seems such an open, honest and generous character,  something missing from today's music scene - and a great ambassador for Blues music.

I had given up struggling with six strings and CBG's were a revelation for me - I did some research and found out about 3 and 4 string CBG's, they seemed to be made for me, and was further influenced by Mike Snowden, then i found Shane Speal and Cigar Box Nation!  A few months later i'm four builds in and my first "video" song on the way...great stuff ! (-:

these video's are fantastic but for an old guy like me never ever been musical can anyone tell me how to convert the picking pattern to a three string cbg please. Mal

Hi Mal. Have you looked at the thread: "Excited to Get Started...But Now What?" If you read the whole thread there is some good advise on some of the basic things you are asking about. Step by step for those with little or no musical background.
