Here is guitar #193.  I wanted to make one similar to my little Magnatone guitar that I had renovated a while back.  It is just a tad larger in proportions and has a 23 inch scale as opposed to the Magnatone 22 3/8 scale.  I am pleased with how it turned out.  Tuned it to C6, string spacing is a bit narrower than most but still very playable.

Thanx for that Ron, I love hearing all about the details of instruments  :)  did you use water or alcohol with the Keda dye? I have yet to try it with water, I use a food grade ethanol aka corn liquor as the alcohol/solvent?

Hi Brian; Thanks.  The wood is a solid piece of tulip poplar from a tree that was close to 36 inches in diameter.  It was disrupting a friend's historic home foundation so was cut down.  I used several applications of red Keda Dye for the color.  Tuners and strings from Gitty and the pu is a flat pickup from MGB.  The pots are 500 Bourn and the nut and bridge are actually chrome plated brass I got from Ebay, the string spacing is less than normal 6 string laps, probabaly closer to what a 10 string pedal would use but still perfectly playable.  The original Magnatone MOTS was in terrible shape cracking, peeling all over and filthy beyond cleaning, also both pots and tuners were completely trashed. so I removed the MOTS which revealed the solid red oak body which I used the dye on also.

Kool, I’ve owned many of those short scale Magnatones & sometimes with they’re matching amp combos, I love the Mother of pearl covered ones the best! Your lappy’s are always appreciated Ron!!! What’s the story on the wood & electronics?
