An old build from 4 years back, which was temporarily modified not long after finishing, and now have finally taken the time, to Repair, and do a final Modification.
ORIGINAL BUILD - 12th April 2017
AGP #271 - “Sandvik” - 4 String Hand Saw Lap Slide Guitar
Scale : 648mm / 25½inches
Strings : .036NW / .026PS / .018PS / .016PS /
Tuning: G / D / g / b /
The “Sandvik” handsaw was one of many that had been gathering dust in my shed for many a year.
The Box Frame and Neck was cut from recycled Treated Pine landscape sleepers and the bottom is recycled Cedar Venetian Blind Slats, a 12k Open Humbucker is wired through a Tone Control Pot to the Jack at the rear of the build.
As can be seen by the Pics, the original brittle Plastic Handle deteriorated and self destructed quite soon after finishing, and a temporary Modification was done until I could get around to doing a final Modification, which turned to be some 4 years later !!
FINAL MODIFICATION - 19th February 2021
AGP #271 - “Sandvik” - 3 String Hand Saw Lap Slide Guitar
Scale : 648mm / 25½inches
Strings : .044NW / .030NW / .020NW /
Tuning: G / D / g /
New Recycled Cedar Handle
New Strings & Altered to a 3 Stringer
New Aluminium 3 Slot Nut
New Threaded Rod & Nuts Bridge
New Nickle Plated Hinge Tailpiece
Added Tension Bar to Handle

"Thanks Terry", the Pickup opening was done with a regular 4 to 5 inch Angle Grinder with a Thin Blade, as per the Pic of the one I use on a regular basis, I guess you could also use a small Dremmel Type instrument with a Metal Blade, but as you already probably know just hard these Saw Blades can be !!
As you can see in this one, there are no drill holes, However, I did do another Hand Saw Blade build some time back, as per the Pic, where I did drill holes, and will never do again!, as I lost track of the time it took and the amount of Drill Bits I went through :-{
Sorry Terry, CBN couldn't post the Pics ;-[
"Thanks Poorness", can't remember if I stole this idea from someone else, or it was my own weird design, I think it was the latter, but not sure !! :-)
Hey AGP, This build is really neat. I see that you cut an opening for the pickup. Could you comment on how you did that? I use saws to make keys for Rhumba Boxes (bass kalimbas,) and have not been able to drill holes in the steel. I assumed that inside cuts like yours would be impossible as well. Thanks...and keep up your wonderful work!
Now THAT's different. Well done AGP!!!
Great look to it, Alan.
