This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

I'll be doing that, (searching - not Google), right after I get the next two builds done. (Three, if you count the amp) (Big Grin!) Tons of fun!

Finally got a chance to shoot that muzzleloader last week, worked great!  (but then you gotta clean it).  Time to get back to instruments for a bit.  Have a strumstick gluing up now on the bench, my first one of those.  Can't find my original sketch so need to go back and do my homework on scale lengths for those (assuming DAD tuning) and get on with it.  Haven't cut the scarf joint yet for the headstock so plenty of flexibility.

I have a 50 caliber muzzleloader rifle that I really like and I have a 44 caliber 6 shot pistol that is really fun. Cleaning isn't fun and I cleaned the pistol after firing, but not good enough because the cylinder seized and the pin broke trying to get it apart. You have to thoroughly take them down and scrub each piece and dry before putting back together or it will seize up on you quick.

Paul Craig, I'm having that same issue with posts, they show up blank after I submit them.  Using Chrome browser, maybe that's the issue??

Haven't tried a 6 string build yet, but someday . . . . have a few factory 6 stringers already so I haven't put that on the priority list.  After the strumstick I'll be either starting a 4 string with mag pickup or a 3 string resonator, haven't decided yet.  All the materials are there, just gotta get going.

Happening to me on Firefox.

The beauty of a 6 string is that you can tune it as a regular 6 string guitar in E or do some other tuning for open slide if you wish. Or you can tune 2 groups of 3 strings like having 2 - 3 string CBG's in 1 guitar. Tune 1 set low and 1 set high or 2 different tunings for each set.

Lots of possibilities.

Bummer Paul, I’ve built about 9 or 10 different GF kits over the years, including the “Earl Slick” model & only problem I’ve ever had was missing a part or two, which was always taken care of right away? I’ve had QC problems on upscale kits from companies like Warmoth & Kramer, but then again, kits are for people who know how to build guitars already, that can anticipate those kinds of problems.

All kits can have issues.

I bought 3 necks from GF - 1 was in good condition, but the other 2 took a lot of work to fix. I knew how to fix them, so not a big deal. You'll find a bunch of complaints about GF on their guitars, bodies, necks and kits all over the guitar forums and then some people will say they've never had a problem. Luck of the draw. I really just wanted to let people know that their wood products may need some to a lot of work. Often times you do get what you pay for. Also have to figure in people's idea's of good vs bad. Some people are very picky and some don't care or know the difference.

The SG kit I got from Stewmac was great for the money, only issues were a couple tuner holes were a little off center and some of the hardware was less than desireable.

I was tempted to get a Slick guitar with 2 P90's.

Mmmm, P-90s....

I used to be a regular Humbucker only guy, but now I really like those P90's,REAL Firebirds, Gold Foils and a good Tele bridge pickup.

Something about a single coil... I have a Schecter C-1 Diamond Series with two Seymour Duncans that came with it. I never learned to play it because I started building CBGs and pickups and I never try to play it anymore. Too blasted heavy for my arthritic back and shoulders to be comfortable. Been thinking about selling the Duncans and putting a couple of P-90 clones in it of my own making... Decisions, decisions,,, (grinning)

Since you have Humbucker routes, you'll have to use a P94 (Humbucker sized P90). There are several good ones out there these days Seymour Duncan Phat Cats, Bare Nuckle has some good ones, GFS Surf 90's or Mean 90's or you could get a set of Seymour Duncan P Rails. P Rails are humbucker sized P94 pickup with a small rail single. Add some switching and you can play either single or both in parallel or series. The humbucker switch position sounds great, the P90/94 position sounds great and you can get decent sounds out of the rail pickup. Very versatile pickup. I have a set with their Triple Shot Rings for switching, just been looking for the right guitar to put them in.
