This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

awesome sounds...

That is awesome Poorness.

Actually, that wouldn't be hard to carve out one of those Axe body Basses like ole Gene Simmons used to play.

Hi, that build looks great, nice proportions and balance. You deserve a pizza.

That's really nice. Even the shape isn't too bad!

Sounds pretty awesome? Sounds TOTALY AWESOME! Great build and playing Poorness!

Scrapping Radio and starting over. I was able to make a sound check. Using the bridge pickup instead of the middle I get a really sweet rhythm sound. Without the quacky sound of a normal Fender set up. The independent volume controls work like a dream. I can chose one or the other. Easily blend the two in and out. All without a switch.

So. How do you make a sound check with the body to thick for your pots?

Also had to finagle the tuners. Yes those are nail holding them in place. :)

Work will have to wait till after Christmas. Got a lot of things I have to do at home with the holiday coming up.

I go from crying in my beer to howling at the moon. Here's me howling at the moon again. Toss this body??? Going to get a new paint job and a front side pick guard. The pickup setup will be the same. Because I really liked what I heard.

Whenever I run into a problem, I've learned to put it down and think it over for awhile til I get a clear head to think it over and a solution can present itself. That has saved a few builds from becoming firewood.

The pots: If you thin the top for the pot shaft from underneath, you'll need to use a forstner bit that's slightly larger than the pot so the pot will sink into a cavity instead of binding. That will leave the top looking the same, but hard to do if the top is already glued down. Using a bit slightly larger than the knob from the top might work from the top side.

Glad you got what you were looking for from the sound.

I agree. Two in morning is a good time to think. And I’ve used the Forster bit technique. Bit larger than the knobs, new wood underneath to secure the pots, and from the top the pots appear to be recessed, kind of cool. If the top or bottom is hearty, you just have to drill till you get the thickness for the pot shafts. For that body, you can put a new piece of wood, sand down the sides diagonal, and it will look like you planned it way. Nice wood unpainted, or painted.

Hi BR, bit late now but, long shaft pots are available for les Paul Gibsons' thick tops. Would have saved your box.

Ya know, I haven’t seen long shaft pots, even on stewmac. Perhaps my bad, perhaps a link? Everything I work on would like long shafts. Believe me, I’ve looked. Used to be a bass guy with a business, think his name was Brian? He disappeared, but made me a super fine jbass harness before he did. Pots are huge.

Thanks Ben, that's what I'm talking about.
