My Ruff ‘n” Tumble One String version of an all-time classic Delta Blues Tune “Rollin’ ‘n’ Tumblin’ Blues”, played on a very early build of mine from January 2014, and “it is what it is”, Cheap ($6.65), Bad & Mean & Mighty Unclean, and as some people I know might suggest, not unlike the Joker playing it! :-D

"Thanks Villie", here are some statistics of the very basic Diddley build!

Scale: 700mm / 27.559 inches. The String is an Unknown Gauge Recycled Piano Wire, Tuned G or A. The tuning pegs and String were recycled from a deconstructed Piano, and the timber was recycled from an old Saw Horse I owned and used in my former trade of Bricklaying, it was water blasted with a Gernie and given a liberal coating of 50/50 Turps and Linseed Oil.

The only cost involved was $6.65 for a Chinese Ebay Single Coil Pickup and Output Jack.

What a monster tone on that didly! Would never imagine that comin out of just a single string! I like the primeval build on it too. Just a hunk of wood and the bare essentials! Still rocking like its nothing!

"Thanks Buggy", and yes!, was aware of that method, and did try bashing it with it with a screw driver shaft, and using a beer bottle for a slide, but found the bare digit and tone bar, sounded best on this particular occasion  :-)

Cool, now try hitting the strings with a metal knife/spoon handle in ya right hand..:>)

"Thanks Pick & Nancy Kat", and yes Nancy this one too could be described as an Odd Instrument, not unlike the Oddball playing the thing.

The Tuning Pegs and String were recycled from an old Piano, the 4”x2” piece of an unknown Australian hardwood was recycled from an old Saw Stool/Horse, The Pickup is a cheapie from China $5.06. The bottle for the Bridge, I found in a rubbish pile on an old farm about 45 years ago, The Nut is a piece of Beef Shin Bone I stole from the Dog, the rusty hanging hook was found in my shed, and the fret markers are galvanised clouts.  :-)

"Thanks Derek", Yep!, it's a meaty hunk of hardwood timber, sure wouldn't like a whack over the head with it  :-D
