John here, I'm 62 years old and about the only thing musical I could play was the radio. I was born with just a thumb and 2 stubs on my left hand and a thumb and 2 fingers on the right hand. I stumbled onto a you tube video with Justine Johnson showing how you can play a 3 string CBG with 1 finger. I have twice as many as needed. Now learning 3 string fretted with Patrick Curley lessons and have advanced to lesson 4. I have to play left handed in order to fret and have some chord challenges but working through them. Neat to be able to play music after all these years.

thanks all for the great welcome. I finished my first two guitars up over the weekend, and did my first fret work. So far, so good. Big problem - I don't know how to play ANYTHING! I'm not a guitar player, and when I watch the videos of people playing, it looks easier than in real life. I'll keep trying. :)

Randy.  You have great skills for this addiction.  I wish I could draw or paint, and I’m slowing learning more about the woodworking.  It will be great to see your stuff

Hello everyone,

My name is Randy, I am originally from western Pennsylvania, but now live in South Florida. I am a graphic designer by profession, and do woodworking for a hobby. I am not sure how I found out about cigar box guitars, but really glad I stumbled across them. I am working on 4 pieces at a time right now. I bought a kit from Gitty to get an idea of a pattern, and have been looking at images of designs by others. My son is a guitar musician in a band, and I am building one of the four for him. So far, I love working on these! They incorporate so many part of my skill set that I am now completely hooked. For years I have loved blues music, and its rich history, and now I can get more involved in building and playing, as well as having something in common with my son.

Hello everyone,

My name is Rich.  I am English but live in Thailand.  I am a hobby woodworker and looking to expand into Cigar Box Guitar (CBG) and hollow body guitar building.  On other forums on this site I have asked a number of basic question about building CBG's and the support in return has been fantastic

I am keen to start building and hopefully sharing the results
